Lecture notes on Livy, ca. 1860-1868.

Ernst von Leutsch's handwritten notes for lectures he gave on Livy, at the University of Göttingen, compiled over a period of time. In the introductory portion of the manuscript bibliographical citations generally seem to date as late as 1860, with a citation dated 1868 found among notes that appear to have been added at a later time. Topics in the introductory material, which makes up about one fifth of the manuscript, include a review of sources and scholarly literature, and discussions of Livy's history writing in general, and his life. The majority of the manuscript is devoted to detailed commentaries on Livy's history of Rome, with running references to book and chapter numbers. The commentaries focus on books 5, 21, 22, 24 and 28.
